When we feel stressed, it can start to feel like there’s less room for the things that matter. We’re overwhelmed so we set down hobbies, tense in our bodies so we can’t move as freely, and might even feel like we’re snapping at others over the tiniest things (when we know this isn’t who we really are.)

This stress release yoga practice offers a moment to slow down, release tension, and support your nervous system when it’s reached its limit. We’ll explore grounding, gentle stretches, and restful poses to create more space and allow you to feel more settled and connected.

When we take time for active rest (focused, full rest instead of feeling distracted with T.V. or scrolling on our phones), our nervous systems receive the message that it’s okay to soften. We release tension, feel an overall sense of calm, and might even feel tired. This is normal, since always being “on” can mask true exhaustion.

If you’ve been feeling stressed, tense, or overwhelmed, I welcome you to join me for this gentle class.

What to Expect in This Stress Release Yoga Practice

This is a 30-minute trauma-informed yoga practice to release tension and support your nervous system.

This is also a trauma informed yoga practice, which means everything is an invitation. I welcome you to move at your own pace and explore the class in a way that feels supportive for your body, nervous system, and energy levels.

There are no props required for today’s class, but you’re always welcome to include your own. This practice is supportive for all experience levels, and there are no standing postures.

In today’s class, we’ll explore:

  • Grounding (0:40)
We’ll begin today seated, grounding into our space and setting down the day so we can arrive into our practice.
  • Seated Stretch (1:50)
We’ll explore seated stretches to release tension in your neck, shoulders, chest, side body, and along your spine.
  • Tabletop Stretches (9:00)
Explore a few poses in tabletop to stretch your mid back and hips, slowing the practice down in child’s pose.
  • Supine Stretch & Rest (15:00)
We’ll move into a few supine stretches like butterfly, reclined pigeon, knee to chest, and supine twist.
  • Savasana (24:45)
We’ll spend a few moments in a savasana to allow complete relaxation and we’ll end the class seated.
  • Closing (28:55)
